Hemma and band as a special guest for the Cactus Blossoms January Residency 2020 at The Turf Club

Hemma comes from a family of singers and has spent the last decade carving her own path as a troubadour in the country and folk tradition. Sometimes with a full band, many times a soloist, Hemma captivates the audience as she paints with a pastoral brush passed down from artists like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. The band is back in the studio this winter with producer Sean Carey in her native Eau Claire for a follow-up LP to her 2019 EP Tomorrow River.

With training in performance from Phillips Exeter Academy, San Francisco Art Institute, UW-Eau Claire ,

and L'ecole de danse contemporaine in Montreal,

Hebl returned to Minneapolis in 2016 to pursue a

songwriting career.

She writes original songs that float melodies characterized

by Hymnals and American Country music,

while sustaining a penchant for modernity

in her use of a drum machine and synthesized sounds. Her backing band includes members of Humbird, Field Report, and S. Carey.

Swedish for 'at home', Hemma practices this craft with deep respect for

the authenticity of the homespun song.

Having grown up in a family of singers,

with whom she recorded 8 albums by the age of 15,

Hemma is at home in the studio, on stage, on tour, and in song.

Born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, she now splits her time between her hometown and the twin cities,

writing, performing, and recording.

"Hemma is a talent."
